Big Give Green Match Fund 2022

There is no Planet B…

World Earth Day is our annual reminder to protect the environment, restore damaged ecosystems and live a more sustainable life. However, we’re running out of time to make a difference. The latest IPCC report was clear. Cohesive and collective action is needed if we are to meet the 1.5c degree global warming target. That has to include how we support environmental causes.

Do you want to make a difference? Well, thanks to the Big Give, this year your donation could have twice the impact.

Here’s everything you need to know about getting involved – and how you can double your donation for your favourite environmental cause:

What is the Big Give’s Green Match Fund?

The Big Give has curated a portfolio of over 100 of the UK’s best environmental charities, working on a range of issues, from rivers to tree planting, education, food waste, climate action, and much more. These include:

  • Surfers Against Sewage will raise funds to clean up beaches, rivers, and towns across the UK
  • The Rivers Trust will raise funds to improve ecological health in our rivers
  • ClientEarth will raise funds to use the power of the law to change how we live to protect life on Earth
  • FareShare Midlands is raising funds to provide more people in need in its area with healthy food
  • Young People’s Trust for the Environment is raising funds for an environmental education programme for primary schools throughout the UK

How can I donate?

Visit theBigGive.org.uk between midday 22nd – midday 29th April.

Choose from a wide variety of environmental charities to give to and your donation will be doubled.

One donation, twice the impact.

How does Reed.co.uk support the Big Give?

Since Sir Alec Reed founded the Big Give, Reed.co.uk continues to support the match-funding platform in several ways:

The Big Give HQ is based in our Covent Garden offices, and our co-members there support the technical aspects of running the website. Many of the projects showcased on the Big Give platform are match-funded by the Reed Foundation – the charitable arm of the Reed group that owns 18% of the company. Almost every Reed office and its co-members support specific charities during the Big Give Christmas Challenge and other key campaigns.

How does Reed.co.uk support the environment?

Reed’s company purpose is improving lives through work. We fundamentally believe being a champion of the environment lies at the very heart of our purpose.

The Reed Group has been certified CarbonNeutral® since 2005 and there are a number of activities across the business that promote our passion for the environment. Our Environmental Champions co-member group help reduce our impact on the environment by championing environmental policy across the business.

If you like the buzz of the office, the roof of our Covent Garden HQ is home to 20,000 bees. We’re a big fan of bees as they provide one of the most recognisable ecosystem services, i.e. pollination, which is what makes food production possible. By doing so, they protect and maintain ecosystems as well as animal and plant species, and contribute to genetic and biotic diversity.

“Bees are highly organised and very productive. Bees clearly love Mondays and clearly everyone loves honey,” says James Reed, Chairman and CEO of Reed.co.uk.
