Opportunity for you to join a leading International Accountancy Practice as a Trainee. The initial training period is for a fixed term of five years, two years for the AAT qualification, followed by three years to obtain the ACA qualification and become a full member of the ICAEW; the purpose of the AAT/ACA programme is to build future managers and partners for the firm and the majority of students will remain with the firm to continue their career beyond qualification.

AAT Student Accountant - About the Role

As a Student Accountant your day to day work will encompass:

  • Coding and inputting of invoices onto Xero, Sage, Infor10 (Sun accounts) and
  • other accounting packages as applicable
  • Organising approval of purchase ledger entries
  • Processing payments via BACS or cheque
  • Writing cheques and organising signatures with the partners
  • Updating cash books
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Uploading information onto client intranet sites
  • Filing and archiving
  • Ad hoc data input

Students may spend part of the year in our business services team and part in audit where they will learn to be excellent accountants as well as outstanding auditors. Learning first-hand all the technical skills you will need to succeed.

The successful AAT Student Accountant will have:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 6 in Maths and 6 in English
  • Minimum grade B in Maths at A Level
  • Have a genuine interest in developing a career in audit and accounting
  • Be well organised and able to juggle different priorities
  • Be computer literate
  • Be able to work effectively in a team
  • Have the confidence to engage with partners, clients and staff
  • Have the desire to produce work of the highest quality
  • Demonstrate an excellent customer service ethic
