Our Client is a leading, well established,independent branding and communications agency.

They have no job titles, no set holiday allowance, no timesheets to complete and lots of time for everyone to contribute their own ideas to how we work.

Our Client has grown consistently every year in different sectors including the arts, financial services, charities, publishing.

They are growing rapidly and are now looking for a Finance Manager, this is a newly created role that can be worked partly remotely. The role works with the Admin and Finance Co-ordinator. There are no direct reports for this role, but they expect this person to grow the team as required as the business grows.

As Finance Manager you will be responsible for managing all things financial for their growing team to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the finance function within a fast paced and agile working environment.

The Finance Manager will need to be prepared to work across all aspects of a finance function in the short to medium term and build and grow a finance team in the medium to long term, have a good working knowledge of project accounting for a marketing services business, have ruthless organisational skills, be adaptable, calm and have good interpersonal and communication skills.

Finance Manager key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and assist in the preparation of the monthly management commentary for the Directors
• Manage transition from Xero to a better suited finance/project management system
• Develop a robust system of internal controls that are fit for purposes as the business grows
• Work with the client service team to ensure client invoices are raised correctly and any overdue payments chased accordingly
• Manage the purchase ledger to ensure supplier invoices and expenses are correctly processed and paid on a timely basis
• Liaise with the client services team as needed on project accounting ensuring profitability is managed
• Ensure the client revenue forecast is accurate and regularly updated
• Update cashflow at least monthly
• Liaise with the bank when required
• Monitor and control working capital
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
• Liaise with the external accountants on annual accounts and corporation tax
• Liaise with the external accountants on monthly payroll preparation
• Help ensure that freelancer/supplier/client contracts are signed and filed as required
• Work with the FD on annual budget preparation and quarterly updates throughout the year
• Plan for how the business is best served from a finance and reporting perspective as it grows
• Assist the Finance Director and Managing Director in ad-hoc tasks

Finance Manager key qualifications, skills and experience required

• A qualified accountant
• A proven track record of working within a marketing services agency
• Commercial awareness
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience of Xero and Paprika desired but not essential
• Enthusiasm and self-motivation
• Takes a proactive approach
• A team focussed attitude
• A sense of humour and a positive outlook!
