This could be YOU as our latest Finance Analyst as part of our Sales & Operations team! You will support business partners in the Regional Sales and Operations teams and help drive the best commercial and financial decisions!

The Role:

It is an exciting time here at City Plumbing. We have recently become a stand-alone business and are making real strides in creating an inclusive workplace that celebrates and values diversity.

One of the areas we are looking to recruit for is a Finance Analyst to work within our Sales & Operations team providing financial reporting and commentary for our stakeholders across the City Plumbing & PTS.

This is a role in a close knit and growing team. It is a real opportunity to take your first steps into business partnering and understand what it takes to really add value within a company that has a long track record in developing colleagues and promoting internally.


Areas of focus:

  • Review automated reporting to identify where the opportunities to improve performance are and to challenge the business around action that can be taken to deliver against set targets.

  • Support the production of value added reporting to arm business partners / finance manager with relevant information for commercial decision making.

  • Present the key themes facing the business to help aid your finance team in decision making.

  • Support in creation and maintenance of investment appraisal and post implementation reviews.

  • Play a supporting role with other finance teams to deliver annual planning cycles (reforecasts, budgets & 5 year plan).

  • Deliver reports for the monthly steering groups that provide the senior leadership team with clear data that is easily understood and can be used to drive actionable insights.

  • Support for the production and presentation for annual budget meetings.

  • Play a key role in reviewing monthly management accounts to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • Continually review key reporting to ensure the business remains focused on improving KPI metrics to improve profitability.


This is a hybrid-based opportunity with true flexibility to work from home, but you should be within commutable distance of our newly refurbished offices in Crick, Northamptonshire.

This means you could be based in Corby, Coventry, Hinckley, Kettering, Leamington Spa, Leicester, Loughborough, Lutterworth, Market Harborough, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Northampton, Nuneaton, Oundle, Peterborough, Rugby, Rushden, Tamworth, Wellingborough, as well as Crick itself.

You:

You’ll live and breathe our Customer First ethos, with an innovative and analytical approach to problem-solving.  You’ll enjoy working collaboratively with the wider Finance team and you’ll thrive on delivering excellent financial analysis and reports.

Required skills and competencies:

  • Part Qualified or with a view to start the equivalent (think ACCA/CIMA/ACA). We provide study support and incentives!

  • Experience working within a Finance support role (purchase ledger experience in particular).

  • Analytically-minded with experience of or desire to work alongside senior stakeholders.

  • Commercial experience in financial modelling (reporting, budgets, month-end etc).

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with excellent time-management.

You’ll have an analytical mind and be someone who enjoys working alongside senior stakeholders, by showing your initiative and desire to find solutions to problems.

It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: ACCA, CIMA, ACA, Assistant Management Accountant, Building Products, Construction, Finance Assistant, Finance BP, Finance Graduate, Finance Manager, Financial Analyst, Google Sheets, IT Finance, Junior Finance Analyst, Purchase Ledger
