Salary £30,000 - £35,000 (DOE)

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accountant based on the outskirts of Cardiff. My client, a family run business is looking to appoint a hands-on Accountant to come in and deal with accounts function. As sole person in finance, they are seeking a technically strong Accountant who can work independently, make key decisions, whilst keeping the Managing Director up to date on all financial aspects of the business.

The suitable candidate will ideally be Qualified by Experience or AAT Qualified, with a background of working within an SME business dealing with all aspects of accounts and associated tasks. You must possess a strong technical accounting background, having worked within both financial and management accounts. The role requires an Accountant who is not afraid of dealing with variety of tasks ranging from accounts, involvement with other departments to include the marketing and sales teams. Previous experience of payroll and liaising with operational teams to fully understand all aspects of the business is critical to this role.

• Key responsibilities will include:
• Preparation of Monthly Management Accounts
• Reporting to Directors with provision of financial schedules where require
• Balance Sheet Reconciliations
• Monthly Provisions and Accruals
• Liaise with Bank, Auditors, Insurance, Funding Providers
• Year-end Audit
• Fixed Assets
• Bank Reconciliation
• Budget, preparation and maintenance
• Banking, monitor daily banking - Card payments mainly, cash & cheques, CHAPS / BACS Payments
• Credit Control
• Purchase Ledger
• Petty Cash Control
• Payroll, preparing the monthly schedule for Accountants to process
• VAT Returns
• Stock Checks
• Ad hoc tasks as and when required by the MD

You will possess strong Excel skills, to intermediate level and have previous exposure of working on a variety of accountancy software packages. The role would suit a candidate that is not afraid of hard work, prepared to challenge and is prepared to roll up their sleeves and deal with anything that is thrown at them.
